Historians believe that farming originated approximately 10,000 years ago. It mostly involved sowing and taking care of certain plants and crops. But as food demand increased, there was a need for new farming techniques, implements, and equipment to boost production.
It is no doubt that running a farm – or in this case, a vineyard – by yourself without the combination of skill, hard work, and, most importantly, quality vineyard equipment is not easy. Investing in quality farm equipment and machinery is necessary to increase production and lower costs.
Vineyards use different equipment to produce wine grapes, ranging from tiny devices to massive machinery. Large machinery is typically used for spraying, maintenance, harvesting, and canopy management.
Here are some of the equipment used for vineyard and orchard management.
Rinieri Tool Holder Bio Dynamic Duo
The Bio-Dynamic Duo tool carrier from Italian-based company Rinieri is perfect for fast mechanical inter-row weeding (up to 15km/h) in orchards and vineyards. It can work without hydraulics. The working unit comprises:
- The Bio-disc, “rollhacke,” a toothed disc that does the breaking up the soil near the plants;
- The Bio-Star, “fingerhacke,” is a Kult-patented rubber star in various sizes. It works the soil and eliminates weeds near the plants.
The frame is available in three models: narrow or wide, with rear or front. Whether you’re working in a small vineyard (140 cm) or a sprawling orchard (360 cm), the Tool Holder Bio Dynamic Duo will suit all your needs.
Rinieri CM – Tine Cultivator and Hydraulic Frame
A cultivator is an equipment used for secondary tillage or soil preparation for agriculture. Rinieri’s Cultivator “CM” with special supports “Stone-Jumper” of working groups equipped with anti-shock springs, the frame is width-adjustable, and a cylinder for vertical hydraulic lifting is available to decrease the overall and easier movements. The rear roller adjusts the working depth between 15 cm and 25 cm. A model is available with 5 – 7 – 9 – 11 spades.
Rinieri Pre-Pruning Machine CPL Tower-1 Plus
This is a new pruning machine with a disc for the vineyard. It is available with 4+4, 6+6, 8+8, and 10+10 cutting discs. This pre-pruning machine cuts and takes away the branches from the wires safely. The operator controls the avoidance of the poles. The head can be supplied with the frame or can be mounted on all our trimming and de-leafing machines.
Rinieri ELX
ELX combines reduced overall and sturdiness for significant reliability in stony soils. The machine has a three-arm sideshift, an anti-shock gas cylinder for dampening, and a special PTO shaft with a ratcher-style torque limiter. It is ideal for demanding customers who work in difficult conditions and stony and hard soil. There is an available patented device, “RSA” for off-set control.
It comes complete with the following:
- Electronic device control
- Hydraulic adjustable tilting of the working head
- Hydraulic oil
- Cardan joint with clutch
- Wheels
- Anti-shock device
- Electro-hydraulic safety control with push button override
- Two (2) spare blades
Rinieri Hoeing Plough
It is a hydraulic or electrohydraulic in and out group. It can be assembled on the right or left side of other tools (AI 15, AD 12) for hoeing the rows in vineyards or orchards.
Rinieri EL225 Power Harrow
The original in-row power harrow for orchards and vineyards is the result of 30 years of development. It can work under challenging conditions and on hills’ sides, thanks to tilting the working head.
This series of power harrows for vineyards remove grass from the ground and does not make any tillage pan. The minimum distance in the row can be 50 cm.
Rinieri Reversible Shredder
The Rinieri Reversible Shredder is perfect for collecting and shredding branches and prunings up to 8 cm in orchards, vineyards, and olive groves in irregular and stony ground. Both reversible and front–drive tractors mounting systems avoid driving over the prunings that are about to be shredded.
One special rotor brings the prunings into a space above the soil where the hammer rotor (2200 rpm) shreds the prunings. The machine’s rear has a discharge grating with gauge holes to control the size of the discharged item.
The double rotor collection system enables the collection of large amounts of wood, even woods of larger sizes. A hydraulic motor runs the collector rotors. It is possible to adjust the speed and reverse the motion in case too many prunings block the entrance.
Proper vineyard equipment is the key to successful vineyard management. Whether you need to choose large or small, these equipment pieces are necessary to complete the tasks on time. They are also crucial to running and maintaining smooth and efficient operations and the increasing conditions that result in a successful harvest.
In addition, having the proper vineyard equipment saves time and money by reducing the number of working hours and physical effort while contributing to heartier crops and a more bountiful harvest.
